PATRON
SIR TREVOR MCDONALD OBE
A message from Sir Trevor McDonald OBE,
Patron of the Friends of Barnes Hospital
Dear Friend,
Over the years in which I have been Patron of the Friends, I have seen a good many changes in the health services provided at the Hospital. Throughout those years, the Friends' Trustees have remained steadfast in their aim to improve the quality of life for patients. Now most older patients are looked after at home with visits from Hospital staff. Many people also attend outpatient clinics, memory clinics, therapy groups etc. in the Hospital. The Friends continue to enhance hospital-based activities by providing extra elements that the NHS doesn't provide.
Life for many older people who have mental and physical health problems is enriched through social activities organised by local organisations. Recognising the value of this voluntary care in out community, including patients of Barnes Hospital, the Friends make substantial grants to support appropriate projects. They are able to respond to requests for support, from local organisations and hospital staff, quickly and with minimal bureaucracy.
For some years the future of the Hospital has been under threat so the Friend's Trustees have actively campaigned against the loss of this valuable local asset.. The friends continue to make their voice heard. Meanwhile, month to month, they use their finds for their core purposes - to enhance the care an quality of life for the patients cared for by Barnes Hospital.
I encourage you to support the work of the Friends of Barnes Hospital - so please complete and return the application form to become a member. The Friends will warmly welcome you..
Yours sincerely,
